Diferencias y similitudes culturales.
Alebrijes por la paz.


Propósito del año: No produzco basura / Genero paz y bienestar (KiVa).


Daily Routine:


Kids put their material in the correct place and take out homework and pencil case to be ready (10 minutes).
We say good morning, say the date, and talk about the weather. (5 minutes)
We do brain gym and teacher communicates the objective of the day.
Attendance report (5 minutes)


Number dictation (5 minutes)


Spelling review words: bear, bird, dog, fish, frog, rabbit, snake, spider, turtle

FINAL PRODUCT: Complete simple sentences using have / has.


EVALUATION:
Kids use  / has in complete simple sentences.
Kids explain when to use  / has and give an example.
Kids follow instructions.


RESOURCES: Markers, sheets of paper.


Activities:
  1. Kids take a sheet of paper and fold in by the middle.
  2. Kids draw their favorite animal and label it.
  3. Kids use vocabulary words to describe the animal.
  4. Kids must use have or has correctly.
  5. Kids must use simple present to describe the animal.
  6. Kids write three sentences on the same sheet of paper to describe the animal.
  7. Kids share with the class and record the steps accomplished on the board.

TOPIC: Subtractions.


ACADEMIC CONTENTS:
  • Numbers


OBJECTIVE: Kids use strategies for basic subtraction.


FINAL PRODUCT: Kids describe the strategy used for basic subtraction facts to 18.


EVALUATION:
  • Kids counts backwards from 20 to 1.
  • Kids share tokens with their classmates.
  • Kids describe strategies for basic subtraction.


RESOURCES: Tokens, notebook, chalks, playground, dices.


Activities:
  1. Kids go to the playground with their teacher.
  2. Teacher traces 4 number lines on the floor from 0 to 10.
  3. Teacher divides the class in small groups.
  4. Kids jump taking turns in the number lines forwards and backwards.
  5. Kids should explain how counting backwards and subtraction are related.
  6. Kids sit down on the floor, making 4 big circles.
  7. Kids take turns  throw a dice in each circle, the number up will be subtracted to a given number (no greater than 20).
  8. In case that the kids can't subtract, s/he may jump in the number line and count backwards.
  9. Kids go back to the classroom and take their books and work on math pages, unit 4.
  10. Kids may have tokens to take apart and find the difference.
  11. During the session kids may have trouble to share the tokens, so they must find a solution and share with the class.
TIME: 50 MINUTES.
HOMEWORK:
1. Math practice in notebook
2. Read in English aloud at least 10 minutes.

  • Kids make and answer questions about the story they read.
  • Kids show appropriate vocabulary with their classmates during the session.
  • Kids listen carefully the story and stay focus on it.

RESOURCES: A short appropriate story for 1st grade kids.

Activities:
  1. Teacher introduces the book and shows the cover.
  2. Kids make predictions about the story.
  3. Teacher reads aloud and monitor kids attention by encouraging kids to make predictions every time that teacher turns the page .
  4. Kids listen to the story one more time and look at the illustrations.
  5. Kids retell the story to show comprehension.
  6. Teacher models activity by asking some questions about the story (teacher may give a pattern with WH questions on the board).
  7. Kids work in pairs to ask one question about the story.
  8. Kids illustrate the question and share in facebook.
TIME: 60 MINUTES.
HOMEWORK:
1. Answer the questions about the story in your notebook, draw a picture of your answers.
2. Write 3 times vocabulary words and draw.
3. Read in English aloud, at least 10 minutes.
